The founders of Factum Lab's had a bold vision to create a new application that puts the fun and social back into fitness apps. To do this they imagined an app that made it really simple for cycling and running groups (their first sports) to arrange events, chat and create amazing group stories to share. But while the team at Factum Labs had extensive software, design and product management experience they needed a partner to execute on the vision - that' made us the perfect partner for this new startup.
The Factum app is packed with features that cater to adventure seekers and sports enthusiasts, ensuring an enjoyable experience. For us, it ment we had a lot of fun developing this app, since it came with many technological challenges. Below is a breakdown of what Factum has to offer:
Community Connect: Discover and connect with a vibrant community of outdoor enthusiasts. Create groups that share your passion for running, cycling, hiking and more, all within a few taps.
Your Group's Home: Group home provides a central place to see the latest videos and pictures, new events and extends simple chat to what activity focused groups really need.
Stay in Touch & Chat: Communicate with your community in real-time. Share updates, coordinate plans, or simply chat about your latest adventure with rich messaging.
Discover Events: Got a great ideas for the next adventure for the group but can't decide? Post the next event, where it is, import a route, and of course where the coffee stop is! Your group can can vote and we give you notifications of changes, event updates, and even the weather forecast.
Vote and Attendance: Vote on which activity you think the group should do and see the real time results of who is join the next adventure. Change of plans? Rained out? Just sleeping in? Let everyone in the group know with one touch.
Connect Your Fitness App: Sync your activities with your favorite fitness apps. We've integrated popular platforms like Strava, Wahoo, and Garmin to keep your progress in sync.
Share the Moments: Try Group Stories! A visual way to remember those great moments in a unique shared way. Its a group project where each group member can contribute. Images are ordered by timestamp from when they were taken, it's a timeline in a story!
Weather predictions: Using MapBox we integrated weather predictions for your scheduled adventure. Bad weather incoming? Suggest to your friends to re-schedule.
The platform's backend is built using GoLang, known for its performance and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. This ensures a reliable backend capable of smoothly managing high traffic and complex operations.
For the frontend, we've taken a dual approach. The dashboard or web application is built using ReactJS, which provides a dynamic and responsive user interface. React allows us to create a seamless and interactive experience for users accessing the platform through a web browser.
For the mobile application, we utilized React Native, a hybrid framework that enables us to develop a single codebase for both iOS and Android platforms. This approach allows us to deliver a consistent and feature-rich experience across different mobile devices while reducing development time and effort.
An app is never the only part of a platform. For the Factum team we developed a management dashboard where everything behind the application can be managed. From managing users, groups and events to detailed analytics.
